Koji Nakai arrives in Italy after work experiences in both Japanese restaurants and his city’s fish market, which was a paradise for the young chef enamored with the sea and its raw materials. In 2016, Akira Yoshida begins to invest in Japanese restaurants, bringing authentic Japanese ramen to Italy for the first time with the opening of “Ramen Bar Akira.”
Two Japanese in Rome and two emblems of success in the world of Japanese cuisine, Akira and Nakai understood that they had a dream in common: to bring a small corner of Japan to the country they have chosen as their home. Having mastered the art of sushi, Nakai joins forces with Akira to ideate their own version. What better place than Mercato Centrale to launch a collaboration between two Japanese who love artisanship and excellence? Thus, the Sushi boutique of Koji Nakai and Akira Yoshida was born, a small corner to taste the real sushi of the Land of the Rising Sun, made with love and patience by authentic Japanese artisans. Each nigiri and each roll is prepared according to tradition with a pinch of Mediterranean creativity.

In his shop Nakai prepares nigiri, sushi rolls, and poke. His forte is surely the nigiri, one of the most notable and appreciated specialties of the Japanese gastronomic tradition.
