fishmonger’s shop by Andrea Collodi

Fresh, fresh fish

Authenticity, simplicity and freshness are the governing principles at Andrea Collodi’s boutique in the Mercato Centrale Milano.

And when the fish is as good as this, you don’t really need complex condiments. All you need to do is let the scent and taste of the sea speak for themselves. It all goes back to Pescheria Pedol, where Collodi used to work: opening in 1929 inside the market of Piazza Wagner, today it is a reference point for anyone in Milan in search of good, fresh – really fresh – fish. Here in Mercato Centrale you will find fish to suit your every need: from the classics like bream and seabass to more sophisticated pieces, like John Dory, blackspot seabream, striped seabream, shellfish, snapper, brill, scampi, king prawns, calamari, stone bass and silver scabbardfish. There are some even greater delicacies too, such as red tuna, lobster, oysters and caviar. At the Mercato Centrale Milano, Andrea Collodi makes good use of his 35 years of experience spent behind the counter of the historic Pescheria Pedol. He chats with his customers, suggesting ingredients for whatever dish they’re making. Whatever it is, it’ll be fresh.

Fish never tastes as good as it does from here.
